You’re feeling tight, so you stretch it out. But is that really what your body needs? The truth is not all tightness comes from a lack of flexibility. Sometimes, the problem is weakness or shortened muscles. Stretching them won’t solve the issue—it might even make things worse.
Here’s how to tell:
If the muscle feels like it’s pulling but you’re also weak in that area, it might need strengthening, not stretching.
If it’s tight after prolonged sitting or repetitive activity, shortness might be the issue, and mobility work could be the key.
The holidays are full of long car rides, awkward plane seats, and stress-induced tension. Instead of blindly stretching, let us assess what’s actually going on. With the right plan, you’ll not only move better, you’ll feel unstoppable.
