Make Your Back Hurt More

Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. Sometimes, making your back hurt more is exactly what you need to feel better. Let’s talk about centralization versus peripheralization.

Centralization happens when your back pain shifts closer to the source. That ache in your butt or leg? If targeted movement makes it pull back toward your spine, you’re on the right track. Peripheralization, on the other hand, is when pain starts spreading outward—like an unwelcome guest bringing friends to the party.
So, when you’re working with a professional (like us), and we say, “Does that make your back hurt more?” don’t freak out. It might mean we’re nudging your body toward healing. But this is where expertise matters—you don’t want to guess wrong and make things worse.
This fall, as life ramps back up and routines settle in, don’t ignore your back pain. Let’s centralize it, mobilize it, and get you feeling your best.
